The concept of the nation state isn’t timeless or even the dominate organizing form. Multi ethnic states were the norm for most of history and it is really just the modern industrial age that we see the ethnostate gain prominence. It has worked well in this age of maximal state violence and total war, and it can extract maximal resources from a brainwashed nationalistic population. The nation state It is on its way out.
