on second thought, it's not **building** specifically we're lacking, it's acting. and courage. we probably already have enough devs and tools. what we need are brave agorists building actual grey societies and markets. ..or they're already out there and i'm not privy. best case scenario!

maybe i get to obvious-and-well-known conclusions through circuitous pathways with far too much thinking aloud on nostr, but after some reflection and writing, i've come to this practical upshot: the most effective and safe path forward is to BUILD, fast and hard. Be extremely defensive and **expect the worst** - increasingly so as success accumulates to the overall space. Do not _ultimately_ trust ANY public figures in the privacy space, but especially not those who are identifiable and not obviously seeking martyrdom. don't trust, verify. Operate **as if** the enemies of privacy are highly-effective and motivated to stop you - but pay attention to signals that this may actually be untrue (and consider what this would mean about everything you've been told). it just always comes back to personal responsibility and skepticism. Either way, seeking to do no harm and build peaceful Exit is always the best approach. and seriously consider full pseudonymity. View quoted note →

It takes a certain kind of person. Literally a hero. Who risks everything. Even if you do everything anon with perfect opsec, you have to maintain perfection forever. That would be incredibly stressful. Imagine you have a family, children. It rules out a lot of people.
We often wonder the same thing. Why are more XMRBazaars not popping up, more P2P labour markets, more P2P Airbnb on Nostr kinda alternatives to the Oligarch platforms. And the conclusion we've drawn is rather terrible - there's no money in it. No funding, no glory in anon networks, and that's primarily why a majority of people Buidl. Remember feeling the same way attending scoooores of crypto events over a decade and getting exhausted by the copy-pasta and no substance. If there was more money, more fame, they prolly would. What does this say about devs who call themselves Degen though?
