Content creators want to create high quality digital content, but the attention economy's incentives are totally opposite of this. Advertisers need eyeballs, platforms need a constant churn of new stuff, and creators are pushed to make a lot of content all the time that is just barely good enough.
Subscriptions are a huge mental transaction cost for people, and they don't incentivise individual quality goods either. They are just a subsidy that people don't ever feel good about engaging with.
Now with Fanfares we have the technology to pay for digital goods without fiat, middlemen, advertisers, or subscriptions. Creators can get direct market signals from the individual goods they produce, and they can focus on quality because that's in their audience's best interest.
