You’re right about that. Obama created a trap for Somalis in America. Under Bush Jr. Supreme Court ruled on a case that Somalis can’t be deported to Somalia because of safety concerns. Obama gave Somali asylum seekers two options. Stay in jail while you wait for your asylum status to be resolved or take TPS status and be freed because they can’t deport Somalis. Many took TPS option. Those group of people were rounded up during Trump first term and deported. Eventually the Courts overturned Trump deportations and extended their TPS in his first term. Now he has cancelled that TPS order for Somalis and are trying to deport them again. BUT LESS THAN 3000 Somalis in America are under TPS. Over 80% of Somalis in America are Naturalized citizens or born in America.
