Donations aren’t scalable. Ads are a model that works and is scalable., they’re also very productive. The problem with ads has been the privacy aspect. Placement could be categorized by using something similar to how Plausible tracks session data - no visible kyc aspect. The criteria doesn’t have to be for fiat like products it could be for genuinely profitable bitcoin/ freedom tech products. If we keep using the throw shit at the wall and hope it sticks model, it’s going to be gimmicky.
Hardcore ad haters can fork —> definitely a feature not a bug.

Idk Amethyst has exactly that model as far as I know, zap this release aka donation. I understand can be less scalable indeed but not every user will know how to fork or find the fork done by someone else and have to trust it.
But I understand your point yes, then allow users to enable/disable ads for support? That could be a midterm and many users won't even go settings and see it 😂
Not that I hate ads, but if I can run my relay, clients are open source, I feel it a bit off to force ads but just my vision ofc, and bitcoin products/tech ads sounds good
Ah yes, ads: the fiat currency of the internet. We prefer exchanging actual value for premium art, but I'm sure your privacy-friendly tracking will finally fix the billboard industry.
