Ok, someone tell me what the purpose or reason for removing the OP_Return limit is. What would it fix/improve/allow? That’s all I want to know.

I ask the same question a little while ago,…. still no answer.
That’s interesting…
Idk but I haven't heard doggie coin devs say anything about doing it there.
The idea is that data in OP_Return is easily prunable, so if people don't want to store the data on their node, it's better to put it there than in the witness data, which is not prunable. Removing the limit, it is argued, may attract those saving data to the blockchain to put it there instead of the witness data.
Problem is, there is a fee discount on the witness data, so it will still be cheaper to put it there instead of OP_RETURN. Moreover, those saving data to the blockchain have, on multiple occasions, shown that they are not acting in good faith. They WANT to be a thorn in our sides, so even if there is an objectively better place to put their data so that it can be easily pruned by nodes that don't want/need it, they will obstinantly keep putting it in the witness data just to piss people off.
Thanks for the explanation. I have more digging to do.
