Wences is an early Bitcoiner. What he said was absolutely true in 2012. I have my doubts that BTC is a net force for the betterment of people these days. Simply because the masses are not seeking betterment of their situation. They seek a better position in the fiat race vs their neighbours.
With the masses onboard in BTC it lost its spiritual meaning. Monero is the clear successor here advancing the space against state attackers.
