I’m torn on this. I understand what they mean, but if a non “economic node” was the only one with a copy of the blockchain then it is valuable.
If a non economic node never had a single Satoshi ran through it, it doesn’t make it less valuable than a node that had every last satoshi sent through it.

Both matter. If only economic nodes mattered then Bitcoin is ruled by Coinbase. Bitcoin's network consists of all nodes. If Coinbase's node fails Bitcoin will continue working and its function will be replaced by another exchange.
