Who is building the physical network for FIPS and will it have enough performance for all the usual heavyweight applications? Is the Zen of Reticulum the better philosophy for the self sovereign network? Probably, we don't know until we start building and using.

It should have performance close to or equal to clearnet speeds, given its link independent, you can connect long distances with FIPS using fiber if you want.
The only possible bottleneck over large bandwidth links is the nodes CPU due to the encryption process.
