I'm glad Catholics are not actually meant to fulfill the caricature of "believing whatever the [current] pope says." If Francis only did one good thing, it was to remind us that we cannot be "papal maxis." We have to understand his role as the keyholder, which does not guarantee moral impeccability. It's extra scandalous for the person who should be a visual representation of Christian unity to be a major source of division. We have to keep the old Faith of our Fathers -- not the new faith of a particular father.
