Given the aggressive stance governments are taking against people who simply provide privacy tools, maybe it’s time to really start pushing protocols that lean into encryption and decentralization onto your normie friends i.e. “I only respond to texts on signal now. You can only pay me back for dinner in bitcoin now.” This Overton window needs to move faster than it has been 🤡🌎

Privacy tools on inherently non-private operating systems could (if not already) become a waste of time anyway.
Needs to be taken a step or two further than download this app from your favorite app store to talk to me, unfortunately.
Although I agree with what you are saying.
I did this to my friends/fam these weekend while pickleballin’ and, to my surprise, met with slight resistance. Now I have a pickleball group on Signal! Progress!
Adoption of low friction options like signal at least gives people a little reason to learn about privacy and not immediately believe encryption=criminal. It’s getting people near the rabbit hole, not pushing them down it 🤙
I’ve been doing both for a while now, with limited success. More than zero, but still limited.
