Today, let’s try something different: a small slice of culture from Northern Italy: Saint Martin’s Summer.
Legend says Saint Martin, a Roman soldier, met a freezing beggar near Amiens, cut his cloak in two and shared it.
The skies cleared, warmth returned, and ever since mid-November’s mild spell is called “Saint Martin’s Summer” (aka Indian Summer).
It marks a brief, hopeful pause of light before winter, born from a simple act of generosity.
