Nostr social apps are a commodity. Find one you like and add your Secret Sauce, to give you and your frens a variation of it. Maybe your ideas will eventually wander into the core. Maybe not. Either way, you got what you wanted. Expand that core app community, don't compete with it. That community exists, for good reason: the Core Dev built a solid base and supported it for long enough to get loyal powerusers who simply aren't interested in reinventing that particular wheel.
