In an environment controlled by the algorithm, intentionality is lost. Consciousness is literally alienated. It becomes estranged from itself, in a sense stronger than that anticipated by Marx. Because now it is not in the product that consciousness is lost, but rather before indulging in the luxury of production. It is a kind of a priori alienation.
