I'd add #reticulum into the mix for communication between devices. Keeps things private on the house side and miner can send results back to network for lottery ticket.
Reticulum and Iroh are considerations but need stable Rust libraries. Enough to build in the meantime.

Why not run python script within the rust program? But you right, plenty of work for a foundation
Likely will have Python. Iirc Home Assistant is python.
Toaster and dehydrator are good ideas but think of the fridge and the work its doing. Be nice if that power suck could hash.

I bet it would easy to retrofit an RV style (ammonia) fridge to run, at least partially, on miner waste heat.
