Here's the current culture of Pubky after one month of a few hundred testers in the app. I expect this to change each month, as we invite new demographics to try the app, leading up to a Public launch in Q4. You'll think I'm crazy, but I've decided not to attempt to compete with Bluesky or Nostr in any direct way. Why? Because after using those platforms, the cultures are not something I am jealous of, nor is the quality of UX. Those are not situations I want to replicate. Where X feels like "the arena" and a place where news breaks, P2P platforms feel like cults where you need to learn the taboos and behave. I'll be happy to provide Pubky for those kinds of people too, but I'm not making a special effort. I'm not interested in stealing users from other platforms; I want Pubky to be a beacon, a destination, a resource... the web idealized. Instead of bickering about nostr, zaps or social media engagement, we will try to identify peoples that are ready to embrace new things, take risks, solve problems, connect, share, curate, collaborate, discover, learn, teach, etc. We have to rebuild the entire web, AND bootstrap a new economy, and I want to connect with and help the people that are ready for that, not persuade loyal cults or humor their ignorant pessimisms. image
