My father has been trying to convince me to diversify into real estate for years. Last time I talked to him he said there wasn’t much point to get Bitcoin because it only had another 10x to go. Clearly he hasn’t heard what I’ve told him about the devaluation of fiat. It’s also the most bullish capitulation I’ve ever heard. View quoted note →

Other than time, this is humanity’s first real experience with a truly scarce monetary asset. Your dad is ignorant. I was too.

My dad has always been a real estate guy, our entire family has. But I never got into it, it just never made sense to me. Way too many “leaks in the bucket” My dad is ignorant towards bitcoin as well & I’m done talking to him about it. Bitcoin WILL go up forever as more people trade their fiat for bitcoin.
I totally agree. It’s funny because he’s always the one bringing it up now, he even keeps an eye on the daily price movements. As if bitcoin is living rent free in his head. Fortunately for him, I have some set aside in case he needs it.
It’s true, we all were once. Fortunately for him he has a son who has set aside a portion in case he needs it.

That’s very nice of you, I’m not sure I want to set any aside for my old man. I tried explaining to him why he might need it and how it’s the best performing asset, but all I get is resistance, ridiculed and laughed at so I stopped bringing it up.
He wasn’t around when I was a kid, but he was always supportive and never ridiculed me, in that I am thankful. Tangentially, on the difference between nice and kind; scammers are nice, they are not kind. Nice is superficial, meant to make people feel good regardless of one’s true intention. Kindness is caring for someone regardless of making them feel good.
