I wonder how many indie artists release on Spotify, etc for the purpose of generating income?
Or do they do it because that's where the people are and what is expected of them, and it's not a financial decision at all?

The choice of spotify, for "most artists", i reckon is barely even a question. That's the reality we're dealing with. But it's fine. At the end of the day: there is no "fair music-market" unless there is a "fair market". ๐
