I am forecasting a change soon thanks to LLMs, tech savvy markets like China, India and Russia are loaded with excellent engineers and enthusiasts that will for sure leverage LLMs power and come with alternatives, perhaps optimizing current kernels, perhaps making one from scratch more intelligent and compatible. But the problem your friend has is the same one as usual, running a laptop with proprietary close source HW always will be an issue with Linux or any other new OS... Solution: Sucks but for laptops: Get a USB Bluetooth 5.0 dongle Get a cheap 2K BT web cam or USB (I prefer BT) A USB hub with two slots (small not to bother) All will work, but is not pretty nor ideal. This solution overcomes the propiertary HW issue most people have with their PC, specially those with the POS "Intel", avoid buying that garbage anytime you can, AMD is a better solution, for now...
