He was let go for refusing to use the narrative. He was arrested for multiple trespasses on school grounds after the fact after being barred from the site, failure to pay legal fees and fines, and contempt of court.

These issues don't exist in isolation. It's an entirely ideological problem, and they are all intricately linked. Schools are indoctrination camps, and now if you oppose any parts of the indoctrination, whether it is unconditional migration, unconditional financial support for illegal migrants, or unconditional support for people with severe mental issues. If you oppose any of these things you will be targeted in a biased manner by the state.
