The sugar and bs is what we currently have on legacy social media. Largely that is because everything is free and stuff that gets people addictived is promoted by the algos.
The key thing to understand with Fanfares is that the paywall creates friction.
You will only see the content if you choose to pay.
You will only choose to pay if you already know the work of the creator or if you are recommend by someone you trust.
If the content turns out to be sugar or bs, then you lose trust for both the creator and person who recommended. You remove them from your signal.
Your choice informs the web of trust of everyone connected to you.
