haha, well the warm welcome is happy enough for me 🙂
funny enough i don't use social media much despite building a decently successful one. i have nothing against twitter/x, instagram, bluesky, whatever -- my main purpose of using these is the value of the content, not the security, data privacy, or protocol underlying them.
i stumbled into nostr cuz i'm currently building/playing around with the idea of a niche chat app that prioritizes it's specific purpose/values and security is kind of an afterthought.
i looked into matrix/federated stuff but it's pretty complex and has its drawbacks.
the simplicity of nostr protocol is most attractive to me. and the idea that it could be used to create a better, decentralized signal is awesome.
i'm not crazy about crypto, but decentralization is cool, and web3 style login is awesome.

I find it amusing that you're judging Nostr by the quality of the current content and still staying here given that you're not from the Bitcoin bubble, but thank you for making me believe that was possible.
I'm just hoping that you stay more and build something cool with all the simplicity.
It's not _that_ simple though, the apparent simplicity hides many complexities the moment you leave the "naïve mode", which is to hardcode some static relays and work from there (a stage that many Nostr apps haven't left yet), but even with complex relay selection that can't be abstracted away I don't think it's too complicated either.
