A lot depends on the projectile. Dropping a lung isn’t gonna kill him, which very well could have been the only significant injury from a ball round.

Fair enough, but then you have to assume the projectile will exit at the back and cause a bit more damage than you're assuming here. Armor != Bulletproof

The lack of back splatter is very curious to me due to that cartridge. I thought initially that the shooter used a mid power round with hollow points. A straight shot with a 30-06 would have significant exit energy. Supports the body armor thesis
