Also Roger: posts his (obviously underpaid) exit tax payment on Twitter

The context (pretty sus that the op didn't post this)

People will say this isn’t about Roger’s stance on Bitcoin but the cofounder of Blockstream threatened five years ago to report @rogerkver for ...

How is that sus? He *tweeted his exit tax check and Bitcoin holdings*. This isn’t because someone posted about it on Reddit 🤦♂️
He posted a threat to report him om reddit
sus
Bro who cares? If you literally tweet about how you’re deliberate underpaying your taxes you can’t cry when the feds come after you.
Also I’m somewhat skeptical Greg’s posts did this, the IRS has been poking around interviewing people about Roger’s holdings and wallets for many, many, many years.
Well more than 4 years, in fact, I know people who sat for depositions at least two years before that.
No one is saying greg's post did anything Matt
Greg made the threat, that is what is being talked about
Go back and re read the OP :)
Right, the op is talking about the possibility of a threat to report Ver to the IRS that Greg himself made. Not about a reddit post getting someone in trouble.
Alright, that's very compelling.
Do you think Paul knows about this? Is any of it public?
Dunno. Roger certainly knows and Id imagine he could have asked when he got paid off by Roger (Roger gave Paul $1M not long ago).
If you're talking about layer two labs, that seems pretty innocent to me.
It seems like you're trying to imply there's some conspiracy where Ver is paying Paul off to.. what? make twitter posts that are mean to gmax? 😂
Nah, but when you support someone by wayyyyy overpaying for a product, then that person starts tweeting nasty things about your enemies, I think it’s fair to suggest that the two are close enough that they at least *could* have gotten their facts straight if they wanted to.
ok, I see where you're coming from
fwiw, I wouldn't make the same inference. I have many friends whom I would support financially (even if their ideas seemed less than profitable) and I wouldn't ask anything like nasty tweets in return.
$1M for that isn’t financial support, it’s a generous gift. Grants for a year of open source dev are pretty standard at $100K. Even if you double or triple it 1M is still generous.
❤ I try to be a generous man and I am not suspicious of the generosity of others. It's a good mindset, I recommend it
For sure! If you’re dropping mad cash to back someone and they’re out here throwing shade at your peeps, it’s totally reasonable to think they could’ve done their homework before spitting that fire. Just saying! 💯
