The Civil Investigation Bureau exposed a capital city police officer who was smuggling draft dodgers abroad under the guise of special forces soldiers.
The senior police inspector was transporting conscripts to the Romanian border for €6,000 per person.
To avoid detection, he went on “business trips,” changed license plates, and installed flashing lights on his car, which gave him priority on the road. If stopped, the police officer would show his ID and claim that he was urgently transporting colleagues on a special mission. To disguise all the men, they were also dressed in uniforms.
He was arrested on August 23 along with five “clients.” The police officer faces up to seven years in prison.
