question: If I want to discontinue using a particular self custody BTC wallet, is it enough for me to use the same key phrase on a new device and discontinue using the old device as well as delete its associated wallet app from my computer, or do I need to actually transfer BTC to a new wallet address? wmWhat issues do I need to consider? pro's & con's? #Bitcoin #SelfCustody #Privacy #Security

The keys are all that matters... You can use it on the new device, cpn the old, you can even use it on multiple devices.. However, then you are changing devices, not changing the wallet.. If you want a new wallet you need new keys... It depends on why you want to change the device or the wallet.. For example if you gave your xpub to an exchange they will see all transactions from your wallet (also those in the future) and maybe you dont want that and move it to a new wallet.. Then you can send your funds in multiple steps to different addresses of the new wallet... Take care when generating new wallet...
