I’m concerned the US is heading to a bad place. Spoke to multiple well educated, well meaning people this weekend who told me there is no acceptable level of capitalism. I live in a blue state. My hope is that Mamdani destroys NY fast enough that people here see how bad the ideas are and come around before I have to flee with my family in the dark of night. I love this place and don’t want to run away, but I am massively outnumbered.
Commies kill people.

I can understand why they feel that way with Musk going to be paid a trillion dollars and the gov. printing money like crazy
Right, but the solution is not to give MORE power to the state.
I hope people wake up as his communist ideas fail, as well. But if people still believe the news, they could be led the believe the classic lie that “that wasn’t true communism; we just need to try again with even more control”.
No sense in worrying though. I just pray and focus on the positive. I think that’s the best way forward.
Communism only works in a closed system. And by works I means kills everyone. When it fails in NY city, they’ll say it can’t work without the whole state being onboard. Then when everyone moves to Florida, they’ll say it can’t work without the whole country going along. When they run out of other people’s stuff to consume, they’ll eat each other. Eventually they get so weak from misallocation that the last vestiges of freedom overthrow them and the cycle starts over. The question now is, are we playing a new game with Bitcoin and AI and if so, what are the new rules? Are these new systems mature enough to overcome centuries of momentum?
Wait till they roll out UBI... it'll be the end of freedom as we know it.
So stay and fight or run away? If away, where?
Not sure. Probably wait to see NY turn into a complete hellhole. I hope he goes all out commie and destroys it and perhaps others will learn the lesson. That might be the best outcome.
What we don't want is UBI rolling out now or any time soon before the commie experiment fails.
Globally, I don't know if any place is better - it's all going down the toilet everywhere I look. Japan has been lagging slightly behind on authoritarianism if you don't count the digital IDs we already have, but Japan is constantly testing the limits too. I suspect once US adopts some crazy measure, others will follow.
I don't know how things got so bad so fast globally. It seems to be a coordinated effort towards insanity.
Yep. I like LatAm since they seem to have already swung far left and the pendulum is returning to center. But I’m not sure that’s going to work out as well as some might hope. Ironically Africa may do best since it doesn’t have strong local institutions. When globalism leaves they may have a golden age of the warlords don’t have the resources to control vast swaths of land.
This “country” is really 3000 counties and you can find counties that will feel like different countries in the same state.
Nothing is monolithic in the US
I actually disagree with this. There are pockets of divergences but close to the Interstate Highways and big cities it very much feels monolithic.
I thought we were talking about public policy.
Even in my southern state if you lived near the state capital during Covid the Tards owned you.
Drive 2 hours and it’s like there is no Covid

Right thier solution is backwards
They never accept any blame. They create a boogeyman to blame for everything. The Jews, the rich, the west. Then they have to start killing people because they can’t allow logical debate. It’s always the same story unfortunately
