Years ago I read a story in a book entitled “Chicken Soup For The Soul” about a girl walking on a beach at low tide picking up stranded starfish and tossing them back into the water. A cynical old man stopped and remarked, “You know that’s not going to make any difference.” She paused, picked up another one, tossed it into the sead and said, It will make a difference for that one!” I like her reasoning, and I note that it also applies to smashing cockroaches.
