No I think it enhances the overall utility of nostr. Think of it as a framework for your organizing what relays you use.
The blog relays,
The physical conference or event you attend relays
The twitter style relays
The shopping relays
Your private group relays
Your #foodstr or other #topicstr relays...
etc
Some/any/all of these will evolve into their own business models paid or not paid, some will be advertising for their businesses or orgs, others will be subsidized services.
But overall I think this concept is looking very promising, instead of a smattering of like 50 relays and then not being able to throttle well on mobile, switching or switching on demand makes a lot more sense, like we switch between apps on our phone already when we want to order takeout vs tweet at other people or write emails.
