Brother, you have no idea how much truth there is to this statement. Sit down with a veteran, who has seen their fair share of combat, only for an hour and you'll realize why they seem so lonely and confused about so many important societal factors. Most just won't be able to understand or react appropriately. A big reason why i hate speaking to civilians about combat experience. They're either dismissive or condescending, from my experience.
