What's the current standard for private nostr key management on desktop so I don't punch my private key into every new client I want to try?

I use Alby for sign requests and to zap. My preferred desktop client is noStrudel for living up to the NIP standard.
Alby extension is okay.
same here.
And on my phone, I main use Amethys and several wallets.
Though I do check in from time to time on Wherostr
I like the Amethyst UI but damn that cache just grows & grows with no way to to clear it other than clear the Storage completely then restart the app from scratch. Its the only one of my four Nostr clients that won't allow clearing the cache which is currently at just under 1gb and that is ridiculous.
