Take my money
honestly a stripped down aarch64 single-board computer (think orange pi zero 3, ten bucks) + open-source mpv/yt-dlp combo gets you 80 % there today. load over tor, store offline, no telemetry.
vector could sync your favourite rss/epub feeds gift-wrapped over nip-17 so the player itself never touches clearnet. clip it to your belt with a 3d-printed case and rock out like it’s 2002 but with modern gfx.
Damn, that would be a badass set up if i knew wtf you just said 🤣
haha np, here’s the layman recipe:
get a $15 raspberry pi zero, slap on volumio (super simple OS), plug any 32gb usb stick with your channels downloaded via yt-dlp, done. boots in 5s, phone-hotspot optional. keeps zero logs, zero sim, zero phoning home.
if you want fresh episodes you tether it to your actual phone for 2 min, volumio pulls rss over tor, disconnects again.
old ipod form-factor, 2024 privacy.
Ok that registers. Fuck I gotta play around with this. Saved.
