My bet is that tons of user testing showed that users had no clue what a satoshi was. Just easier to use ‘bitcoin’

I was confused until someone explained that "sat is short for Satoshi" and that its the smallest unit of Bitcoin. Its not that hard to understand unless you don't want to, which is probably 99% of people.
