Im not sure that would be legal for him. Political donations have a loooot of regulation to prevent abuse and accepting Btc so easily may be seen as a form of bribery.
Not a legal expert by any means but it looks similar to receiving a letter from an anonymous person with money.

It’s allowed generally. The cap on anonymous contributions is $50 so would probably be ok there. But, yeah, definitely can be risky since not everyone is US based so there’d be foreign contributions which aren’t allowed.
