I would also appreciate a bit more patience when it comes to getting my minimums up. What little is thereis in there will have to be used for my monthly payments as Hurricane Milton recovery will be devouring what little extra I have.

"What is the purpose of the savings account?"
-> It is the onchain side of your self-custodial wallets. A self-custodial wallet has its own lightning network channels. In order to create a channel with your own funds you need to do so with onchain funds. Also, If a channel ever closes, those funds need to go somewhere: They go to the onchain side of your wallet, your Savings Balance.
"Will there be a connection to a hardware wallet in the future?"
-> Nothing like that is thought at this moment. You can always place your suggestion on our feedback forum:
About having your money off the exchange, we also do not recommend using the "Savings Balance" as a long-term hodl account. It is more like an in-between onchain Savings Balance, where sometimes funds have to be moved in between on-chain and the lightning network, that is why it must exist.
