I actually need to take a little break from social media after yesterday. I realized with the hostile mood of the country that it's not a good time to stir up controversy, things could get taken the wrong way, etc. And I'm behind on some things and need to catch up. Be back later.

yes, and why don't you read "The Art of War" by Sun Tzu while you're on that break.
i think your error from yesterday is best explained in that book ( though i haven't read the book myself yet )
it seems the way the book is written applies to any conflict in general, not just military.
I did a long time ago (college) but it can't hurt to reread it, anymore than it would hurt to reread Greene or important philosophy texts like Nietzsche...
all progress is cyclical. you can't teleport from A to B - you can at most take one step at a time. if 10 people read the same book they aren't all going to get the same message. when you read it triggers your thoughts based on your life experience which will be very different today than it was when you were in college. i bet when you read it in college it sounded theoretical with no direct application to your daily life but if you were to read it now ...
you would realize that to take any action within the left-right paradigm engineered by the enemy is to be moved by the enemy ...
to move the enemy you must attack the paradigm itself ...

No, I generally don't do irony; I understand many millennials loved this but it just was never my thing
