Great. Good to know for end of paper Bitcoin summer when I finally might buy car with this kind of tech :D.
Highly recommend. A fantastic experience. Google services available in a sandboxes way if you really need them, non+existant if you don't. There is no second best mobile os
I tried month ago, it didn't work. I just use Bluetooth. But it would be nice if it works...

Works fine, you just needs to pull out the phone every time to unlock it in order to start Auto.
I avoided it up until now too, but you can’t use it without , if you want to show maps on the big display in your car.
You don't even have to log into maps to use it. Additionally, you can restrict it a bit in the settings. When I set it up on Graphene I was following some privacy tutorial video ... But I can't find it anymore. Lately I've found @PayPerQ quite useful in helping me set up FOSS tech stuff.

I do not use Android Auto and have always wondered why all the hype about it. I do connect GOS phone to car for audio and handsfree Signal calling, this is good enough for me. For navigation and maps I prefer an old-school Garmin GPS unit. I never use Play Services or Location Services on phone for anything ever.
The nice thing would be to have maps on the big screen in the car instead of the phone display only.

Agree, don't like using phone for maps while driving, hence Garmin GPS unit as stated.
