The activation method would be on a longer time frame and it wouldn’t be a temporary measure. Of course it is confiscatory so it’s not correct by that metric alone. Changing consensus is a big deal. One would think the people behind such changes would come out with a massive amount of funds at stake in a prediction market before they would dream of pushing this through. They are socially attacking bitcoin without any skin in the game, they can do this over and over. For this reason alone we shouldn’t reward such behavior and reject it.
