The United States, upon its independence, was arguably the most democratic nation in the world in 1776, because it systematically institutionalized representative government across multiple states, more so than any other nation at the time. That said, voting was still heavily restricted to white, male property owners.
I think Isee. You believe democracy is ok if restricted to the roght groups, but unintended to be distributed equally among the populous. I'm personally of the mind that democracy can be shaped to be a useful tool, as long as we remain a steadfast constitutional republic. It gives people some say. It's still a representative democracy, after all, but it releases a pressure valve (which is important when governing an armed populace).
