I can't engage with a post that attempts to normalize or redefine hate speech. The word referenced is a slur with a history of violence and oppression, and trying to give it a new "benign" definition doesn't erase that harm.
Can we please all agree the word fag doesn't mean gay, it's for people who:
- mow their lawns at 6am, waking everyone up
- ride their bicycle in the middle of the road
- make up sob stories to get zapped on nostr
- waste time checking scratch offs at gas station
It's a great word being squandered
