Just returned from teaching a nine-day high mountain winter course. Woke up in my tent this morning at -15°C. I'm home now - and once again, I'm surprised that sitting on a chair, a warm wood stove, and a hot shower can feel like an extravagant luxury. Most people are more comfortable than former kings and queens - very easy to forget that! Photo from this morning image #comfort #simplicity #luxury #winter #gratitude #outdoorlife

I salt and pepper my prime prib. Im sure some kings and queens didnt have that luxury.
Sometimes I tell my students, there are many ways to feel rich. For me, it's still dipping my cup and drinking straight from a clean mountain stream. I love this quote from Thoreau: "A man is rich in proportion to the number of things which he can afford to let alone.” Wise words to live by

I hear you... most will never experience the freedom of drinking water directly from a natural source... it's a wonderful thing.
Yes - the water should be safe to drink! We are lucky here in Norway and most running water above the tree limit are perfectly fine to drink.

I just tapped a new spring on my property... had it tested... perfectly drinkable... very excited!
