This is a tough one. I've had clients with top-notch professional devs get on the AI coding assistant path and lose a lot of their cohesion and ability to collaborate. I think we're all discovering how to do this in real time.

What do you do in order to not get overwhelmed with review work but at the same make sure the codebase stays high quality and maintainable?

Usually asking your clankers to go through the code and explain what’s being done is a very good way to caching any logical bugs. We all work on different parts of the stack. We review things that are overlapping. If we disagree with something we fight with our swords and axes (we fight a lot haha). It’s good to have people who are opinionated about things. Arguing is a good thing.
