This is a concern that is not discussed enough, especially on a platform where Bitcoin is dominant in a way that screams (to me) social conditioning to keep investment moving into Bitcoin. Bitcoin has become valuable because it has reflected the value of store that people have put into all of the hardware, but Proof of Work cannot continue the way it is because resources will dwindle, and personally I believe something that is as trivial to track as BTC shouldn't have a future in a sovereign system. There has been plenty of research done that indicates how certain mixers leave telling fingerprints. Even if not built and controlled by a nation state, it should be considered a tool that only extends the current and extremely unfair economic system we live in.
