Basically there’s no way to prevent every client from mangling your lists, but keeping backups is a good defense against that when it happens. Another app you can check out is Sidecar, which will warn you if you’re about to sign an event that will wipe some of your profile data. It’s only for desktop, not mobile, but is could definitely save you some headaches.
