Discovery is also an issue. It's pretty difficult to discover anything (to the extent it exists) other than the monoculture in my experience.

Is it hard to discover? Really? Just browse a few threads, check out a couple of profiles and you find all sorts of things.
I say this as someone who only has a handfull of people in his follow list, and i discovered you, didnt i?
