Just realized in this photo I took that the mushrooms are giving shade to Creeping Charlie - that cursed weed. That's aiding and abetting. The mushrooms (and weed) must go. image

Overnight mushrooms appeared (1st photo). The 'shroom photo was taken in almost exactly the same place as the 2nd photo, from yesterday, after mowing the grass. The largest mushroom head is about 2 inches diameter. Amazing, and a little scary, how fast they can appear.

I'm finding that "talking" to machines requires a new skill set. Of course in coding it requires a programming language. But, with AI and bots the language is melding into something new. Used to be that a programming language was obviously different. I think of pascal or C, neither of which I have any ability with. No one would misconstrue those computer languages with something like English. Few people could code/translate. Now, AI coding (and online bots) picks up English as we might say it. However, the cadence or flow is not exactly the same as with a person. It requires a precision of language syntax that is a bit awkward and unnatural. And yet, it's close. Unlike "talking in C" to a computer, "chatting in AI" is a skill that needs developing. Something we all will need to improve because this is increasingly the way things are going to become. (Talking to myself here.)

I've made a few mini-goals for myself for over-the-summertime. One of them is this: By September 1, write a one sentence summary of each book of the Bible. I'm leaving myself the leeway of maybe fudging it out to two sentences, but brevity and clarity is the goal. I could easily AI this task and be done in 5 seconds. But, then, did I really "write a one sentence summary..."? By actually writing it myself will require me to: . ask, "Do I even have a clue about this book?" . analyze the book . distill it to its essence . precisely relate my analysis Sounds like a good exercise for me.

As a child, I enjoyed going to fireworks. 🎇 As an adult, they're grating on me. The rub is that my wife really enjoys going to fireworks. That's fine, but there are a lot of fireworks now. Every special, outdoor concert, or special whatever has them. And around this time of year, each local city/town has them spaced out so they each have their day. And we "have to go." Sounding old and cranky, it's the same thing every time. Struggle to park, find a "good seat", watch 20 minutes of bang, bang, bang, then a finale that usually is sub-mediocre at best. Twice I've seen truly Wow! ones, but it's rare. Gotta do what you gotta do for family. 🎇 I feel better now.

Goal #1 today was to get the grass cut. Well... ✅ grass is done 🎇 fireworks tonight The only downside is that I knew it was going to be a lot of walking with a push mower. So I turned on the step counter app on my phone. I felt good that I'd get a fair number of steps of activity. I just checked the doggone thing had exactly the same number as when I started. Argh. image

After like three days of rain, things can't dry out fast enough. I'm itching to get in the yard, clean up things, and pull that rhubarb!

It's a little weird, but I like to bake pies. I think I got here due to the fact that I like to eat pie. My favorite growing up was pumpkin pie, but then I got two new favorites as an adult. Chess and rhubarb. Chess pie is just so rich, plus I love the name. The story is that it's "just pie" or "jes' pie" which sounds like "chess pie" when spoken with a Southern US accent. It's the pie you make with "just" the things you have in the kitchen: eggs, corn meal, sugar, and a little vinegar. Might now sound good, but it's good! And rhubarb - it's the summer and I've got some rhubarb ready for plucking. That's what got me thinking pie.

I've got to get back to adding new episodes to Bitkenstan. It was too much fun to tell the #bitcoin story through a story. image Episodes:

One of my summer goals is to try to find a still, calm moment each day and to enjoy it. I typically get up early, so the early morning is a great time for this. This was at dawn, though I'm not sure if the sun was up or not due to the misty conditions. Still, it was magical as mornings tend to be. And, the birds were awakening and getting to work with their songs. I tried to record one proud singer. If you turn up the volume, you might hear him (if the vid actually works 😃). Just standing there for only a couple of minutes is golden. I'm reminded of the 1 Kings passage of God speaking in a "still, small voice" or a "gentle whisper," depending on the translation. Both are beautifully phrased, but I think I like a "still, small voice" best. It's not necessary to shout the loudest voice to be heard.

I just made about 4 images using ChatGPT free plan then hit image generation limit. It said I have to wait 720 hours now. I glanced over that limit notification, okay, fine. Wait, 720 hours? That's 30 days! I'm still thankful and I get it, they're paying for everything. Was just surprised.

Went to an art show this evening. This was interesting... paper folded around into flowers. The photo doesn't really do it justice. image #art

I knew those Primal people reminded me of something. This video is from 7 years ago, the Nimiq coin devs living, working, and running around in Costa Rica. It's Groundhog Day tech-style. .hostr

Got a few scapes coming in nicely. They're interesting to look at, like a heron or egret, and some garlicky tasty fried in a pan. image

Old clocks are fun. I was watching this one and it clunked ahead like 2-3 minutes. Kept watching, seemed to actually rock back, then thrust forward, then settle in. Basically, a baseball pitcher. ⚾️ image

A few minutes ago I did something on lumilumi.app (post a new follow feed, or something like that?) and POOF! everyone I followed is now gone. Except me, I follow myself. lol Been going through who I follow once again (This isn't necessarily a bad thing.)

I just put this on Stacker News. Tell me I'm wrong. #bitcoin I just don't know how "progressives" can reconcile proof of work. No matter how it's sliced or rebranded, the basic premise of "progressives" is socialism, which is taking from one group (the producers) and giving to another group (the non-producing receivers). All that verbiage like a more "just and equitable" world is just framing and marketing of this basic premise. And, this premise is fundamentally the opposite of how bitcoin works. <paste this on the "change my mind" meme> .hostr
