I had a weird dream Saturday night. It was about "German Calculus". Never heard of that before, so in my dream I looked it up on the 'net and went to the Wikipedia page for German Calculus. According to my dreamt Wikipedia page, German Calculus would be more accurately characterized under Economics than mathematics. The page explained (yes, I was reading a Wikipedia page in my dream, so weird) that the idea is that wars serve as a critical impetus to move economic production forward. The lack of a war and war machine slowly sees a nation slide into contraction, recession, depression. Then, a war so jolts the economy into production and expansion that it goes into a massive new economic level. I know this is controversial stuff, and I'm not picking on Germany, that's just what the Wikipedia page said. Then I woke up. I know, weird.

My Actifit Report Card: April 13 2026 image I had to rent a vehicle over the weekend. And when I rented it, it was half full of gasoline and the person said anything under that will be charged at $9.80 a gallon, so return it with at least half a tank, and you can se... On the recent "who is Satoshi?" talk Apologies for any sloppiness, no time to proofread properly. Due to regular life stuff, I missed the https://www.nytimes.com/2026/04/08/business/bitcoin-satoshi-nakamoto-identity-adam-back.html about researching Satoshi's ID. That's actually good because by the time I read it there had alread... Bridged via Hostr at This is a long form post, read the full article at

Vibe #coding would better be called yolo coding because that's really what you're doing...just throwing caution to the wind, cranking out code and seeing what happens. Which reminds me... One day, five minutes before church service was to start, I was in the sacristy (side room) lighting the "torch" to light the altar candles. It was out of oil. I scrambled to unscrew the cap off the torch's reservoir. To avoid spilling any fuel on the carpet, I did this over the sink. Of course, I dropped the cap and it immediately went down the drain. Three minutes to church service start...I get under the sink and disassemble the U-shapted trap/catch pipe, retrieve the cap, reassemble the pipe, then begin to refill with oil. By now, two other men had arrived to see what the hold up was and to "help". The cap did not want to go on neatly and we spilled/spilled the oil all over the place and down the sink. One minute to church service start...and paraffin oil is everywhere on the sink basin, down the drain in the trap, dripping down the torch and handle. 30 seconds to service...we had it ready, but I hesitated. I did not want to strike a match with highly flammable paraffin everywhere and down into the plumbing system. I mentioned my concern. One of the men said, "Let's just light it up and see what happens." "I'm out," I thought to myself and left the sacristy. That's how vibe coding, or yolo coding is - let's just light it up and see what happens.

I'm going to tip my cap to Claude for recommending a competitor LLM. Well, not exactly an LLM, NotebookLM. I'm working on a family memoir kind if thing with lots of scrapbook style pdf scanned info. Organizing has been a struggle with a myriad of entries, types, and large file sizes. At initial glance, this LM seems ideal. How has this been off my radar?

Each month I pay for a VPS in #bitcoin sats and I'm amazed. During the month, I post things on Hive from which I earn a bit of rewards, then I use the to seamlessly auto-convert the Hive rewards into sats to be accepted by the VPS. Easy.
