I'm trying to imagine a more top of bull market shitcoin moment than the POTUS launching a memecoin that dips 50% on day 1. This is 1000x more ๐Ÿคก๐ŸŒŽ than Novogratz getting a Luna tattoo. What could possibly top it?

TIL that over a quarter of UK government debt is in the form of inflation index-linked gilts ("linkers"). This means that the UK gov can't use the strategy of inflating away the debt since that amplifies the debt burden. So I guess actual bankruptcy and default are on the cards.

Latest South Park episode about sycophantic AI is a more insightful critique of AI than any mainstream source I've read

Bizarre interview. This guy goes on about Christian love and laments abortions (agree) but has absolutely no sympathy for immigrants. Thought Peter might have challenged this, but he got completely railroaded. Also weird section where his friend got arrested for having porn on his computer. Kinda sus. View quoted note โ†’

The paradox is that people lack the imagination to see how this time isn't different, but somehow can imagine robots doing everyone's jobs without an economy.

Interesting that the wealthiest people seem to self actualise by being philanthropists. Socialists tend to deny this, but likely the genuinely poor and unfortunate would be better cared for if society became more capitalist.

People criticize @DETERMINISTIC OPTIMISM ๐ŸŒž and Coinkite for the wrong things. The biggest issue is that when you have to buy from the UK they throw you to the wolves of FedEx who always hold up the shipment but are unreachable, and if you do resolve it you have to give so many personal details you may as well just use Coinbase.

Interesting side effect of using LLMs: I now tend to be a bit more demanding with junior employees to iterate and get things right because I'm used to doing it with Claude or Gemini. (As an aside, I have to use these services for work, but use free OpenAI for random low risk questions, and then use Maple AI for everything else in my personal life)

The original intent of mass schooling in the 18th century was as a means of socialization and creating a sense of national unity. Literacy and numeracy skills were a secondary consideration, but for the purposes of creating a more capable workforce. People talk about teaching kids how to think etc, but not clear to me that's the case at all or that anything has changed in the last 200+ years. Tbh, I don't really think the home schooling option is right for our family either, but thankfully my Bitcoin savings means we'll be able to afford private schools - still not ideal, but in the UK the difference is stark. When I toured one of the "outstanding" local state schools the halls were full of propaganda about climate change, islamophobia and LGBTQ+ rights. The academic results were not even that great, but that's not the most important assessment criteria for state school ratings. At least with private schools there is more choice, and kids and parents are better selected for not wanting the state to educate their children.
