🌊 SURF 'N TURF 🏝️ -THE BORACAY ISLAND LIFE- Denim Cities by Choi So-Young (최소영) Korean artist Choi So-Young transforms discarded denim into vivid urban landscapes. Using seams, zippers, and pockets, she builds bridges, alleys, and high-rises that echo the streets of her native Busan. A faded patch becomes sky, a pocket ripples like water, a buckle rests as a balcony. By reimagining the castoffs of fashion, she reveals the quiet poetry woven into everyday city life. 🌊 SURF 'N TURF 🏝️ -THE BORACAY ISLAND LIFE- It wasn’t fought with bombs — it was fought with balance sheets. Behind every Cold War crisis was a hidden flow of money that quietly decided who would rule the world. This episode of The Financial Historian exposes the secret economy that powered the Cold War — a financial war waged in the shadows of ideology. While the U.S. and the Soviet Union claimed to be enemies, their survival depended on the same global banking system. From the Marshall Plan to the petrodollar, from CIA black budgets to Soviet oil-for-credit schemes, both sides learned the same truth: control the money, and you control the world. Discover how the Cold War created modern globalization — how banks, oil, and credit networks replaced armies as the real tools of empire. The missiles are gone, but the system they built still rules the planet. • The Bretton Woods system (1944) made the U.S. dollar the world’s reserve currency — giving Washington unseen control over global trade. • Despite ideological rivalry, the USSR secretly borrowed billions from Western banks through oil-backed loans. • The Eurodollar market in London allowed Soviet money and CIA funds to coexist in the same offshore accounts. • The petrodollar system, born in the 1970s, replaced gold as the foundation of global finance. • Intelligence agencies used shell companies and NGOs to move “black budgets” across borders. • Cold War financing shaped today’s globalization — the same networks evolved into modern offshore banking and sanctions systems. • The arms race and proxy wars functioned as economic engines disguised as ideology. • When the Berlin Wall fell, the financial system it sustained simply rebranded — and continued. #FinancialHistorian #EconomicHistory #FinanceExplained #ColdWarHistory #FinancialEducation #Globalization #FinancialSystem #MoneyAndPower #HistoryOfMoney #TheFinancialHistorian Credits Goes to the respective Author ✍️/ Photographer📸 🐇 🕳️

🌊 SURF 'N TURF 🏝️ -THE BORACAY ISLAND LIFE- THE DOOMSDAY DJ: TUNES FOR THE POST APOCALYPSE image Stairway to Heaven Song by Led Zeppelin ‧ 1971 There's a lady who's sure all that glitters is gold And she's buying a stairway to Heaven When she gets there she knows, if the stores are all closed With a word she can get what she came for Ooh, ooh, and she's buying a stairway to Heaven There's a sign on the wall, but she wants to be sure 'Cause you know sometimes words have two meanings In a tree by the brook, there's a songbird who sings Sometimes all of our thoughts are misgiven Ooh, it makes me wonder Ooh, makes me wonder There's a feeling I get when I look to the West And my spirit is crying for leaving In my thoughts I have seen rings of smoke through the trees And the voices of those who stand looking Ooh, it makes me wonder Ooh, really makes me wonder And it's whispered that soon if we all call the tune Then the piper will lead us to reason And a new day will dawn for those who stand long And the forests will echo with laughter Oh-oh-oh-oh-whoa If there's a bustle in your hedgerow, don't be alarmed now It's just a spring clean for the May queen Yes, there are two paths you can go by, but in the long run There's still time to change the road you're on And it makes me wonder Ohh, whoa Your head is humming, and it won't go, in case you don't know The piper's calling you to join him Dear lady, can you hear the wind blow? And did you know Your stairway lies on the whispering wind? And as we wind on down the road Our shadows taller than our soul There walks a lady we all know Who shines white light and wants to show How everything still turns to gold And if you listen very hard The tune will come to you at last When all are one, and one is all To be a rock and not to roll And she's buying a stairway to Heaven Credits Goes to the respective Author ✍️/ Photographer📸 🐇 🕳️

For I must be traveling on, now 'Cause there's too many places I've got to see But if I stay here with you, girl Things just couldn't be the same 'Cause I'm as free as a bird now And this bird you cannot change Oh-oh-oh-oh-oh And the bird you cannot change And this bird you cannot change Lord knows I can't change Bye-bye, baby, it's been a sweet love, yeah-yeah Though this feeling I can't change But, please, don't take it so badly 'Cause Lord knows I'm to blame But, if I stay here with you, girl Things just couldn't be the same 'Cause I'm as free as a bird now And this bird you cannot change Oh-oh-oh-oh-oh And the bird you cannot change And this bird you cannot change Lord knows I can't change Lord, help me, I can't change Lord, I can't change Won't you fly high, free bird, yeah Credits Goes to the respective Author ✍️/ Photographer📸 🐇 🕳️

🌊 SURF 'N TURF 🏝️ -THE BORACAY ISLAND LIFE- THE DOOMSDAY DJ: TUNES FOR THE POST APOCALYPSE image This week in 1969, the Fleetwood Mac single “Oh Well” peaked on the UK Singles Chart at #2 ( November 8 ) The Peter Green-penned single was composed in two parts, with "Part 1" as a fast electric blues song with vocals (lasting 2:19), and "Part 2" as an entirely different instrumental piece with a classical influence (lasting 5:39). The original 1969 release features the first minute of "Part 2" as a fade-out coda to the A-side and then "Part 2" begins again on the B-side. Instead of including "Oh Well" on the UK track listing of the album “Then Play On”, the label chose the song as the band's next single, which came as a surprise to Peter Green, who expected it to be Danny Kirwan's "When You Say". Hesitant to release "Oh Well Part 1" as a single, Green lobbied to make "Part 2" the A-side instead, but did not get his way. Mick Fleetwood and John McVie bet Green eight pounds apiece that "Oh Well" would flop, but the single instead went on to hit #1 in the Netherlands, #2 in the UK and France, #3 in Norway and Belgium, #5 in Ireland and Germany, #6 in Austria and Switzerland, and #17 in Australia. "Oh Well" went on to reach #55 in the US, becoming Fleetwood Mac's first single to reach the Hot 100, as well as their only pre-Buckingham/Nicks song to earn this distinction. It did receive a lot of airplay on some FM album-oriented stations and its reputation has grown in the years since its release. #fleetwoodmac, #petergreen, #rockmusic, #mickfleetwood, #johnmcvie, #ohwell, #60smusic, #60srock, #thisdayinrock, #dailyrockhistory, #thisdayinmusic, #onthisday Credits Goes to the respective Author ✍️/ Photographer📸 🐇 🕳️

🌊 SURF 'N TURF 🏝️ -THE BORACAY ISLAND LIFE- image Modern Arjuna’s Those Who Live Without Discipline Die Without Honor is a fierce call to reclaim self-mastery in a world of distraction and indulgence. Blending timeless warrior wisdom with modern psychology, Arjuna teaches that discipline is not punishment but freedom — the power to command your mind, emotions, and destiny. The book challenges readers to rise above mediocrity, face inner resistance, and live with courage and clarity. True honor, Arjuna argues, is reserved for those who conquer themselves first. image 7 Lessons from Those Who Live Without Discipline Die Without Honor 1. Discipline Is the Highest Form of Freedom Arjuna explains that without discipline, people become slaves to impulse and desire. Freedom is not the absence of rules but mastery over oneself. When you control your actions and emotions, you gain true independence. Discipline liberates you from chaos and regret. Every act of self-control strengthens your power to live intentionally and honorably. 2. Comfort Is the Enemy of Growth Modern life glorifies ease, yet Arjuna warns that comfort dulls ambition and weakens spirit. Growth requires struggle — the friction that shapes strength. When you choose discomfort willingly, you evolve. Avoiding challenge leads to decay, but embracing it builds resilience. The disciplined person seeks progress, not pleasure, knowing that purpose is found beyond comfort. 3. Honor Comes from Inner Integrity Arjuna reminds us that honor is not earned through titles or recognition but through alignment between words and actions. Discipline is the foundation of integrity — doing what’s right even when no one watches. Each kept promise builds inner respect. A disciplined life reflects authenticity, while a scattered one breeds shame and emptiness. image 4. The Mind Must Be Trained Like a Warrior The mind naturally resists effort and discipline, craving comfort and distraction. Arjuna teaches that to live with honor, one must train the mind like a warrior — through repetition, focus, and awareness. Meditation, routine, and purposeful action sharpen mental strength. Victory begins within; when the mind obeys, the body and life follow. 5. Discipline Transforms Pain into Power Pain is inevitable, but discipline gives it meaning. Arjuna explains that disciplined people turn pain into fuel rather than weakness. Challenges reveal your capacity when you meet them with purpose. Instead of seeking escape, channel discomfort into growth. Discipline doesn’t remove struggle; it redefines it as the path to mastery. image 6. Purpose Gives Discipline Its Direction Without a clear why, discipline feels like punishment. Arjuna emphasizes that purpose gives structure to effort — it’s the compass that keeps discipline alive. When your actions serve something larger than comfort or ego, sacrifice becomes meaningful. Purpose turns daily habits into sacred acts of devotion. Discipline without purpose is exhaustion; with purpose, it’s glory. 7. A Disciplined Life Is a Life of Legacy Arjuna concludes that discipline is the seed of legacy — what separates those who merely exist from those who inspire. The disciplined individual leaves a mark through consistency and courage. Living with discipline ensures that your time, energy, and potential are not wasted. To die with honor is to have lived with intention, order, and self-respect. image Those Who Live Without Discipline Die Without Honor is a reminder that the battle for greatness is fought daily within. Discipline is not restriction but revelation — the path that leads from chaos to character, from comfort to immortality. Credits Goes to the respective Author ✍️/ Photographer📸 🐇 🕳️

🌊 SURF 'N TURF 🏝️ -THE BORACAY ISLAND LIFE- image Falkenburg Castle, nestled in a breathtaking landscape, is a true gem of medieval architecture with a rich history spanning over 900 years. Located in Germany’s North Rhine-Westphalia region, this historic fortress sits atop a hill, offering panoramic views of the surrounding countryside, adding to its allure. Over the centuries, the castle has witnessed countless battles, political changes, and periods of expansion, making it a vital part of the region’s history. Despite suffering damage during various conflicts, including the Thirty Years' War, Falkenburg Castle has retained much of its medieval character.
