-THE BORACAY ISLAND LIFE-
THE DOOMSDAY DJ:
TUNES FOR THE POST APOCALYPSE
A brilliant live version from 1972, with an extended intro:
On this day in 1972, the Eagles single “Witchy Woman” peaked on the US Billboard Hot 100 at #9 (November 18)
Eagles first ever US Top 10 hit…
The song written by Don Henley and Bernie Leadon was the second single from the band's self-titled debut album.
Guitarist Bernie Leadon actually started writing "Witchy Woman" while he was a member of the Flying Burrito Brothers.
After joining Eagles, Leadon and Henley then finished the song together, and it would be the only song on Eagles' debut album where Henley had a writing credit.
Henley recalled: “[Leadon] came over one day and started playing this strange, minor-key riff that sounded sort of like a Hollywood movie version of Indian music — you know, the kind of stuff they play when the Indians ride up on the ridge while the wagon train passes below.
It had a haunting quality, and I thought it was interesting, so we put a rough version of it down on a cassette tape."
Henley said it was an “important song for me, because it marked the beginning of my professional songwriting career".
The song went to #8 in Canada, #9 in the US, and #26 in the Netherlands.

The Ghosts of Vezio, Italy are plaster casts made by the managers of the castle each year.
Tourists volunteer to have plaster fitted to them, which are used to create these ghostly figures.
They are left to the elements throughout the winter until a new season begins and the ghosts are cast anew.

Big Kites vs Foiling after one year:
Big kites?
'You’re basically practicing patience and disappointment. You’re not really riding, you’re just out there pretending as someone who’s actually riding.
Foil?
Foil is instant joy.
Foil is “why didn’t I do this sooner? Levitating over the water more than 20 mph like a superhero.
Trust me, I spent years trying to make big kites work. All I really did was become an expert mowing grass and lying to myself.'

The bite of a blue-ringed octopus is usually small and painless, which makes it especially dangerous. Because there is little or no pain, many people do not realize they have been bitten. The first symptoms, such as difficulty breathing, numbness, and muscle paralysis, can appear within minutes, often catching victims by surprise.
Once symptoms begin, medical attention is needed immediately. Since there is no antivenom for the venom, treatment focuses on supportive care. In most serious cases, doctors place the person on a ventilator to help them breathe while the toxin is processed and cleared naturally from the body.
With quick medical care, most people recover completely. If a patient receives proper support during the first 24 hours, they usually regain normal function with no long-term damage. Fast response is the most important part of surviving a blue-ringed octopus bite.

The monument, located in Stavanger was erected in 1983 to commemorate this historic unification.

SHAOLIN MONKS “walking” on a vertical wall, Henan Province, China 🇨🇳
(Black-and-white photograph by Tomasz Gudzowaty)
Shaolin monks are renowned for their extraordinary martial arts abilities.
They practice Chan (Zen) Buddhism and the famous Shaolin Kung Fu, a discipline that combines meditation, breath control, and intense physical training as part of their spiritual path.
Among their most striking skills is the ability to appear as if they are running or walking up vertical walls — a feat achieved through years of conditioning, powerful leg strength, explosive speed, and precise timing.
This training includes exercises such as repeated wall-running drills, balancing, acrobatics, and developing exceptional body control.
Their monastic life emphasizes discipline, simplicity, and daily meditation. Many Shaolin monks also follow a vegetarian diet.
Through this combination of spiritual practice and physical mastery, they are able to perform feats that seem almost superhuman.
